Cape Cod with Grandparents

Two weeks ago, Gammy & Papa (Whitney's grandparents) flew into Boston for a two week stay. They spent Thursday and Friday touring the city (duck tour!) and preparing for our trip out to the cape! We left early Saturday morning to escape any busy Memorial Day weekend traffic and by 9:30 am we had driven all the way out to the very end of the cape. At the very end of the cape (about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Boston) there is a town called Provincetown. Provincetown is small, artsy town that has primarily homosexual residents, and guests for that matter. Thoroughly warned, we were only a little surprised. The town is filled with art galleries, shops, cute seafood restaurants, and cleverly disguised sex shops. You go into a cutesy tourist shop, then you keep moving back in the store, and you're like, 'what's all this, why are there dirty movies here?' Let's just say the town is colorful, but lots of fun : ) We spent the weekend on the beach and playing lots of games. The beaches there are glorious. Fine, golden sand, tall green grasses, exactly as you would picture a Cape Cod beach to be. It was so nice to have a little vacation. Lots of relaxation and it was so great to spend quality time with my grandparents. We celebrated Chad's 23rd birthday on Memorial Day and then we went home on Tuesday and Gammy & Papa stayed on until Saturday.

Unfortunately, I got pretty sick later. I stayed home from work on Friday. In fact that weekend everyone except Chad (and he had a sore throat) was pretty sick. Still, we made it over to our favorite restaurant in Harvard Square, the Border Cafe, and Gammy and Papa did trolley tours of the rest of Boston as well as a harbor tour. In fact they pretty much kept the tour-selling college kids around Fenueil Hall in business.

They left early Wednesday morning, but we can't wait too long for our next set of guests! Sam and Craig are coming up for the weekend, and since it's supposed to be a little rainy, we're going to make it an indoor culinary experience! That will conclude 4 weekends of having guests or being guests. Whew!
